I was just a little girl (9 or 10) when my Mama (Heidi) worked as a manager at one of Pat’s favorite bars (Vito’s). I remember working some of the busier nights (usually holidays) rolling silverware for the wait staff, sitting at the table across from the bar. Pat walked over one day and asked if he could have the change I came back with from the party store and I let him. Little did I know, as the bar was closing, he was actually teaching me a lesson. He came back over and explained that if I were to put change in the bank, eventually it could accumulate into more and dropped a $50 bill on the table. Interesting how he had such an impact on my little girl heart. I’ve told that story to many over the years and just recently, even. Truly heartbreaking to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful man.
